Routes to schools Dear Councillor Forrest
We hope you enjoyed watching our Slide Show 'The Stars Come to Sciennes'. People at Sciennes School are very worried about the traffic situation in our area, and we really want to do something about it.
This booklet show our suggestions for improving the area and making our routes to school safer. We would like you to discuss these points with the other Councillor and try and get things done.
We look forward to hearing from you again soon.

What we want : We would like to close
Sciennes Road in front of our school and extend our playground into this
area.
Why we want it: We would like this because it would be easier to cross the road and no cars could park in front of the school.This would be safer for everyone at Sciennes. |

What we want: We would like to put a
pedestrian crossing on West Savile Terrace.
Why we want it: We would like this because West Savile Terrace is very busy and has no type of crossing. Parked cars makes matters worse. A pedestrian crossing would encourage more people to walk. |

What we want: We want cycle lanes on
all busy wide,main roads,for instance Lauder Road.
Why we want it: We want it because it will make main roads narrower and safer for pedestrians crossing and for making it safer for cyclists. More people cycling means fewer cars on the road,which makes it safer for everybody. |

What we want: We would like to put traffic
calming measures in busy roads like Grange Road, West Savile Terrace and
Findhorn Place.
Why we want it: We would like this because it would slow cars down and prevent accidents.This would incoarge more people to walk and cycle. |
| What we want: We want more crossing guides
around the Sciennes area,especially on Sciennes Road and Grange Road.
Why we want it: We want more crossing guides because there are not enough at the moment which means people aren't bothering to cross on the right part of the road.If we have more crossing guides,this will encourage more people to walk to school. |

| What we want: We would like
cars to stop using roads like Findhorn and Livingston Place as rat runs.
Why we want it: We would like cars to stick to main roads, so people can walk and cycle on thse other roads. |

What we want: We want a 20mph zone around
the Sciennes area
Why we want it: We want it because the speed limit just now is 30mph and we think it is too fast. We want it lower so it's safer for pedestrians. |
