Our November traffic count, averaged over our 4 regular count points, found bikes forming 16.5% of all vehicles – our highest ever November percentage, just over last year’s 16.4%. Bikes comprised 22.9% of all citybound vehicles (the highest ever) and 8.2% southbound (down slightly from 8.9% last year). Bikes comprised more than 1 in 4 of citybound vehicles (26.6%) and exactly 1 in 10 southbound. The total number of bikes rose by 7.2% compared to May 2016. During the 8-9am peak period a remarkable 22.7% of all vehicles heading for the city centre along bike-unfriendly Lothian Road were bikes, as was 26.1% of citybound Forrest Road traffic… […] If our November cycle count day was wet, November 13 was wetter – and windier.
