As far as we know Spokes, the Lothian Cycle Campaign, founded in 1977, was the first ‘Spokes’ in the UK. Indeed some (but not all) of those below even asked our permission to use the name.
Spokes is of course a local campaign group [though we also do a lot of campaigning at national (Scottish) level [click here for examples]. At national (UK) level we are affiliated to CycleNation, the federation of local cycle campaign groups. We don’t have any direct connections with the other Spokes’s.
