Edinburgh covid street schemes

Notes about this page

  • This page covers schemes related to the covid19 pandemic and using Scottish Government / Sustrans Spaces for People [SfP] funding and rules or the Bus Priority Rapid Development Fund [BPRDF]
  • It is a largely complete listing though we cannot promise it is 100%
  • Note that in view of the urgency, organisations only get 5 days to respond, so our volunteers have put in a lot of effort!
  • The Lothians Councils also have SfP schemes. East Lothian Midlothian West Lothian
  • Please share this page by retweeting here.

Processes towards making SfP schemes permanent, March-Sept 2021

Experimental Traffic Regulation Orders (ETRO) November 2021–>

SfP schemes which the Council wishes to make permanent [11.11.21 TEC report 7.1, appendix 1], including all the main-road bike schemes and some traffic-free roads, will initially move from TTRO (temporary TRO) to ETRO (experimental), since the current government rules (which are to be changed) do not make it possible to move directly to a full (permanent) TRO.

Schools

Some early school projects were fairly minor, but many of the more recent ones are quite ambitious with 24/7 road closures. We wonder if easier ones were tackled earlier, or if the Council gained confidence as experience built up!

Note – primary schools are listed in alphabetic order, except where the Council held combined consultations.
