Competition: ‘My Memorable Moment’

Everyone with a bike has had some fantastic moments – and maybe some not so good!   Tell us your memorable moment and you could win a great prize plus some modest fame…

Send us* anything from a couple of sentences up to 300 words about your memorable moment (or two) and feel free to include a photo, drawing, etc if relevant.  For example…

My Memorable Moment was cycling along Princes Street when it was traffic-free back in 2013 – can you spot me in the picture? Ah, the good old days 🙂

*Please carefully read our instruction/rules sheet, downloadable below.  Entries may not be accepted unless submitted in line with the instructions.

As with all our recent competitions, entries will appear on our website (anonymous except for prizewinners) and hopefully will inspire other people – or perhaps warn them!

Prizes include the following great selection.  The top winner gets to choose their prize, second chooses second, and so on.

  • ScotRail: Return 1st ticket for 2 between any 2 Scottish stns
  • Edin Bike Coop: £50 voucher
  • Camera Obscura & World of Illusions: Family day ticket [2 prizes]
  • Kalpna Indian Veg restaurant: Lunch for 2
  • Cameo: tickets for 3 people [some restrictions]
  • Filmhouse: Tickets for 2
  • Sustrans: Selection of Sustrans Scotland maps
  • Peter’s Yard: Prize 1 – Food hamper; Prize 2 – keep-cup & recipe book
  • Reiss Hairsalon: Hair cut and finish

The competition closes on Friday 5 September.   Each person is allowed 2 entries – perfect if you have a good and a bad memorable moment [though they can both be good or both bad].

Spokes may put some or all entries on our website, in our Bulletin, possibly in a special publication, or use them in other ways – by entering the competition you agree to this.

For detailed rules, prizes and other information download the rules/instruction sheet – available in pdf or Open Office [odt] or Word 97 [doc] format.   The sheet includes an entry form.

Very important: please do read the rules before entering.   For example, if your entry mentions a location, or if your photo includes a recognisable geographical location, it must be in Edinburgh or the Lothians.

Judging will be by Spokes Resources Group, assisted by an outside expert.  Members of Resources Group are allowed to enter but are not eligible for a prize.

For further fun and inspiration have a look at our competitions page which has the results of previous competitions, such as cycling jokes, cycling recipes, and how I’d spend £1m to get more people on bikes.  Results of the 2014 competition will also appear on that page once the results are announced in September.
