Spokes Competition 2011

Only 4 weeks left to enter the Spokes summer competition, My Cycling Solution.  Win one of the great prizes [see below] and pass on your brilliant idea to the world!! …

We want to know a cycling challenge or problem you’ve experienced or heard of – and how you solved it (or would solve it).   A mundane everyday problem, a one-off disaster, something exotic:  it can be anything.  As long as you’ve got a solution you could win one of our great prizes!

Parking or storing your bike; persuading friends to join you; fear of road danger; what to take on a day out; getting your bike up north for a weekend; staying dry cycling to work; moving luggage or kids … or more personal or philosophical matters like “Will it help me find a boyfriend/girlfriend?” or just plain “Why on earth am I doing this?

Prizes include an Edinburgh Bicycle Revolution Tune-up workstand [rrp £89.99]; a ScotRail 1st-class return for 2 between any 2 Scottish stations; a Lothian Buses one-month ridacard; and prizes from Kalpna Indian Vegetarian Restaurant, Camera Obscura & World of Illusions, Jupiter Artland, Scottish Seabird Centre and SustransTop prizewinner gets first choice of prize, and so on.  See info sheet/ entry form [below] for more details of prizes and sponsors.

The competition closes on 24 September – and each person is allowed 2 entries.

Spokes may put some or all entries on our website, in our Bulletin, possibly in a special publication, or use them in other ways – so you could be famous too (or your idea could be anonymous if you prefer).

For detailed rules, prizes and other information download the rules/instructions sheet [pdf 657k].   The sheet includes an entry form – or you can enter on your own blank A4.

For further fun and inspiration have a look at our downloads – competitions page which has the results of previous competitions, such as cycling jokes, cycling recipes, and how I’d spend £1m to get more people on bikes.  Prizewinners and hopefully prizewinning entries from the 2011 competition will also appear on that page once the results are announced.
