Pigeon droppings prevail!

[Updated Sept 16]   The Spokes 2013 Summer Competition – for a photo and caption on the theme Cycling with a Purpose – has now been judged.

The judges had no difficulty in selecting the top entry.  For the second year in a row our top prizewinner was…

Mark James from Dunbar – with this highly purposeful entry
A delivery to the Belhaven Hospital Community Garden of pigeon droppings, using one of Sustaining Dunbar's Trailers

Judging then became much more difficult, with a range of excellent entries, but after much debate the top 15 entries were selected.

Second place – Charlie Wood, Portobello
What better use for a bike than hauling happy kids around on an adventurous, and exhausting, day out?

Our apologies

Unfortunately Spokes lost this entry from Cait Pearce of Currie, so it was not judged.  We will send a consolation prize.  Cait also sent an explanation of the background to her picture – we have included it at the end of the above all-entries file.

We did the sums when our car died spectacularly: desperation+bike+trailer+banana box+2 bags for life = 1 weekly shop for family of 4!
